Secret Spots in DC: Library of Congress (beautiful paintings and architecture) and Supreme Court's Spiral Staircase (v. cool).
Crab Carnage!! Great dinner at the Bethesda Crab House. My niece Megan is adorable, even when she's covered in crab juice. Oren, Amy & Jacob Gatten (Layton UT) The Hinckleys (Columbus IN) and Nate's folks (Kaysville UT)
Yeah!!! Peer pressure certainly has it's merits. I'm glad you've joined the blogging world. The Library of Congress is one place that we always meant to visit during our year... but never made it. I wish we had...it looks beautiful. Also... Happy birthday to Emma.
Hi Annette! I just found your blog via Jenny's blog. Its Lyndsay Gunn, BTW. Seems like everything is going great for yall! Tell Nate that AJ and I say hello!
Annette-- So glad that you now have a blog. It is fun to see all your great pictures! We've never yet made it to the Supreme Court building--I'm adding it to my list of places to go during the next year.
Princess Sonora by Gail Carson Levine. She's one of my fave adolescent authors. If you haven't read Ella Enchanted--get to it!! This is cute, but not as good as EE.
Nim's Island (one of Emma's library checkouts). Adorable.
Personal History by Katherine Graham (ran the Wash. Post for years). Heavy tome, but a fascinating walk through the last fifty or so years of Beltway Politics (and she was thrust into the boys' club--and thrived). I liked it because I like politics and I live in DC. Unless you find these exciting, you might be bored :)
Ahab's Wife/The Star-Gazer. Interesting take on the woman who might have married Ahab (of Moby Dick chasing fame). Not a light read, but good storytelling.
The House of Sand & Fog. Good, but emotionally draining. Not really recommendable.
Enchantment by Orson Scott Card. I love his books about women from the OT. This was a modern retelling of Sleeping Beauty. Adorable.
The Whiteness of Bones. WEIRD!!!
The Host (by the chick that wrote Twilight). My first foray into her stuff--good book. Totally recommend!!
Wicked: weird. Verdict: save yourself loads of time & being weirded out. Just see the musical!!
Anne of Green Gables: Adored it!! (how I'd not read this yet, I know not.)
Life of Pi--we'll see how it is VERDICT: Amazing book--Highly recommend!!
Atonement (so not what I thought) Spoiler Alert--mostly a WWII novel; not so much a love story
